when dressing for the cooler months, it can be easy to fall into a styling rut of function over form. you really can have both though, by taking a little bit of extra time to mix and match. here, i took a warmer weather dress + layered it over a bell sleeve turtleneck [from target, mind you] in the same color palette to make it season appropriate.
as for the coat? a tip when shopping for investment pieces is to not rule out items that aren't perfect-- if you see potential x have a vision, the smallest alteration can make a massive difference. when i scored this coat in a vintage shop it was floor length, but i was searching for something chic for everyday wear. there were so many things i loved about it though [lining, color, weight, tailored fit through the shoulders], so i gave it a double take-- a quick trim later x it has been my favorite winter coat ever since.
